I have been looking around for tripods and heads. The Gitzo line is know for having a great lineup. The problem is there are simply toooooo many choices and it becomes confusing for the unlearned.  I was poking around and found the following write up by a PRO that simplifies things. Have a read at the following page and see if you don't agree:

Bob, This was an interesting link which I appreciate your sharing.  I have an Arca Swiss head, and a RRS B55.  Of the two, I prefer the RRS head, although it is a bit pricey.  The model under the B55 would probably be adequate for most.  The quick releases on these two heads are interchangeable, which is a good thing.  Also, the L Brackets from RRS are incredibly helpful and I recommend them highly.
